Three Engineers from Tiverton Engineering Firm Celebrate their 20 Year Work Anniversary
Richard Frank, Richard Gunn and Robert Powell are this week celebrating 20 years working at engineering firm HepcoMotion. Having attended Tiverton High school together, Richard, Robert and Richard all joined HepcoMotion’s apprenticeship program directly upon finishing school and have stayed at the company ever since. Against recent trends, it seems at HepcoMotion, a ‘job for life’ is still a very real concept!
All three engineers joined Hepco as apprentices, spending the first year learning key engineering skills such as milling, turning, bench fitting, CAD modelling and CNC programming. The next two years were spent working in different departments including time in the office to gain an umbrella view of the company, before being placed into their designated department.
Following similar paths, both Frank and Gunn now programme Hepco’s large CNC machines producing cutting-edge, high-value products, while Powell primarily focusses on rack cutting and manual machining. 20 years is a big commitment to a company, but Gunn puts this down to the state-of-the-art machinery he uses and how Hepco keeps up-to-date with the latest technology and software.
“I’m lucky that the machinery we work with is world-class and we have the very latest machine tools.” Frank adds; “The variety of work keeps it interesting and we’re producing products for well-known brands globally.”
Peter Fanshawe, HepcoMotion Managing Director said:
“Completing 20 years of service is a noteworthy achievement and I would like to thank Richard, Robert and Richard for their commitment to HepcoMotion. You have been there through two decades of changes with us and your individual contributions are commendable and highly valued.”
Tiverton-based HepcoMotion is a world-leading manufacturer of linear motion systems and automation components. For over 25 years, Hepco has been offering an award-winning apprenticeship programme, with over 100 apprentices passing through the scheme.
