Exeter’s Brogue Traders Meets Peaky Blinders in ‘Best Dressed’ Collaboration
With the unquestionable success of the TV phenomenon that is ‘Peaky Blinders’, men – and some women – from across the UK have been inspired to opt for a smarter fit, made from heavier fabrics and a nod to the era where flat caps and waistcoats were commonplace. As of the 1st June, the patrons of shoe boutique, Brogue Trader on Catherine Street, in the heart of Exeter, can visit the one-stop-shop for their Tommy Shelby-chic. As well as the impressive selection of high-quality shoes on offer, clients can visit the store and meet with master tailor of bespoke country wear, suits and accessories – Mike Lane.
Mike, who runs his Suit the City business throughout the west country, has been working with Chris Macnamara, business owner of Brogue Traders, to offer Chris’ customers a one-stop-shop for their styling needs. Customers who frequent the high-end shoe boutique will also be able to arrange an appointment and walk upstairs to meet with Mike for a no obligation consultation in the stunning, period building – the perfect setting for a bespoke fitting.
Consultations, which take around 60-90 minutes, offer clients an opportunity to discuss their outfitting needs with trained tailor, Mike. He takes the time to discuss personal style, body shape and budget with clients, on a one-to-one basis. With thousands of high-quality fabrics and finishes available for clients to select from, including cloth from renowned supplier Holland & Sherry, quality bespoke garments start at just a few hundred pounds and entire suits start at around £650. From June, Mike will be in store every Tuesday for consultations and in-store tailoring sessions.
Originally hailing from London, Mike and his wife moved to the west country to cultivate their shared passion for the countryside – which shows in Mike’s flair for stylish and eye-catching country wear.
“Exeter is a city full of snappy dressers, who certainly know a thing or two about this recent Peaky Blinders trend – essentially a returning classic style. Whilst I have this new consultation space on the second floor of Chris’ Brogue Traders store, I often meet clients in their homes or at work – whatever is most convenient for them. I pride myself on creating a high-end shopping experience, which is not dissimilar from the way in which the Brogue Trader team greet and serve their customers – it’s a match made in heaven!”
