The Great Legal Bake!

Magdalen Chambers are delighted to take part in The Great Legal Bake 2018 for the second year running with the assistance of Devon Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and Exeter Personal Support Unit and Exeter Family Court Clinic. Between 12-16 February 2018, hundreds of law firms, chambers, courts and legal advice centres will bake to raise funds for access to justice. In 2017 over 250 bakes were held which raised over £30,000 nationally for the provision of legal advice services to people most in need and unable to afford it. TEDxExeter has announced its line-up of national and internationally recognised speakers for its seventh annual ideas festival to be held this spring. More than 400 people had a night to remember on Tuesday night as Exeter City hosted a night with Arsenal legends Paul Merson and Ray Parlour. The event sponsored by RGB Recruitment Ltd and Eagle One, and held at the Great Hall at the University of Exeter, saw Merson and Parlour answer many questions from the packed out room about their days at Arsenal. Merson talked about the 1989 title-winning match against Liverpool, while Parlour recalled many humours stories including one about winding Martin Keown in the invincible season. Exeter businesses are being offered the chance to prepare themselves for the escalating war against cyber crime. The City’s Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW), beginning on February 26, will offer a series of free workshops, seminars and networking events on all aspects of cyber crime, from the real life story of a small local business that was scammed to the tune of £40,000, to an insight into how a computer hacker thinks and works.
