Libraries Unlimited, the charity responsible for running Devon’s library service, has appointed two new independent trustees to its Board following an open recruitment process. Richard Watts and Morgen Witzel will officially join the charity’s Board in February. As a mutual organisation, Libraries Unlimited has a Board of 11 trustees, made up of independent, staff and community trustees, whose role it is to help shape the strategic direction of the charity in achieving its aims and ambitions. Magdalen Chambers are delighted to take part in The Great Legal Bake 2018 for the second year running with the assistance of Devon Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and Exeter Personal Support Unit and Exeter Family Court Clinic. Between 12-16 February 2018, hundreds of law firms, chambers, courts and legal advice centres will bake to raise funds for access to justice. In 2017 over 250 bakes were held which raised over £30,000 nationally for the provision of legal advice services to people most in need and unable to afford it. Charity Celebrates Success With Fundraising Ball

GLITZ and glamour were the order of the day, when local charity, Hollywell Housing Trust, celebrated their third birthday and thanked their supporters by throwing a festive fundraising ball. The ball, held at Rockbeare Manor, just outside Exeter, came at the end of what has been a mammoth year for the Trust, which finds homes for vulnerable adults with learning disabilities and autism, in privately rented accommodation throughout Devon and Cornwall. Choir sings out to support ‘Farms for City Children’

A charity which gives urban children a better understanding of the countryside is to benefit from Exeter Philharmonic Choir’s two carol concerts next week. The retiring collection from ‘Carols in the Cathedral’ will go to Farms for City Children, which was founded in Devon over forty years ago by children’s author Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare. The charity’s first farm was in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside at Nethercott House, just outside the village of Iddesleigh. PKF Francis Clark Supports Christmas Macmillan at Eden

PKF Francis Clark in Truro, was delighted to be a sponsor of the recent Macmillan Christmas Fair held at the Eden Project earlier this month. The event raised a record-breaking £64,000. The money will go towards directly supporting Cornwall’s cancer patients. The famous biomes at Eden were turned Macmillan Green for the duration of the Fair and played host to one of the county’s most vibrant and popular Christmas events. Exeter-based social enterprise Sound Gallery CIC is proud to be delivery partners in the #Focus5 project. Sound Gallery runs recording studios and artist development facilities in the cultural heart of Exeter, designs social inclusion programmes for fragile young people and provides professional audio resources and expertise for the whole community. Cheese Run at Muddifords Court for Exeter Dementia Action Alliance

This event was such an enormous success bringing the local community together to enjoy some exercise and the fun day at Muddifords Court on Sunday 8th October. The day was to raise funds and awareness for the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance and was well supported by local businesses such as Halberton Farm Shop. The Globe Inn and Ashfords solicitors as well as the main sponsor, cheese manufacturer ‘Wyke Farms’. We had nearly 200 people take part in the 5 mile walk or run in the morning.
