Biklio is coming to Exeter to move people out of cars into local businesses. The Biklio app makes this a reality by connecting businesses in the city with the huge value created by the cycling economy.
More people on bikes creates livable streets, reduces congestion and, consequently, creates more business opportunities for local commerce. The Biklio app enables the adoption of cycling as the key mode of transport in cities, by offering a loyalty scheme that rewards people who cycle with benefits at partner stores; like discounts, a free drink, a free scoop of ice cream etc, whilst creating more loyal customers for local businesses and reducing our carbon footprint.
Biklio is designed to be easy-to-use. Participant shopkeepers can simply post a benefit or discount at at biklio.com/exeter to become part of the network. All registered businesses will appear on Biklio’s app map, promoted on their social media channels and via the app’s mobile notifications.
In contrast to all other applications on the market, the Biklio app does not require you to track your trips; therefore, you do not have to keep starting/stopping recording your trip, you can avoid draining your battery and is much less invasive in terms of data handling. Just install the app, start cycling and Biklio’s algorithm will identify that you are cycling by the vibration of your phone and the speed that you are moving.
Officially, Biklio launches in Exeter on April 21st. In Exeter, their target is to reach 3000 users and connect with 100 shops from April to July 2018. In terms of impact, the initiative is expected to account for 42 tonnes of CO2 and 1 football field of public space savings (related to private car ownership and parking).
Biklio also has initiatives in Lisbon, Bologna and Luxembourg and reached around 10% of the targeted group of bicycle commuters in these cities. In Exeter, they aim to take the Biklio platform to the next level in scale and value for the network and the city.
As of today, fourteen shop are already available on the app’s beta trial. To try the Biklio app, download it from the Google Play or App Store and start cycling around the city. Start claiming your benefits our expanding network of partner stores: The Belt Makers, The Hidden Treasure Tea Room, Exeter Bike Workshop, RideOn, The Ridge Coffee Shop, Rivka Jacobs – Millinery, The House of Hope & Mercy in the Jungle, Melanie Shaw Herbalist, Cartridges Law, Robin Costello Acupuncture, Uprising Bakery and Tea on the Green.
