Reflecting on My Business Launch!
Written By James Kapadia
How did all begin?
It was only in September last year, during my second week of paternity leave with my first baby boy Arlo, that I decided to quit my job of 9 years and start my own exciting venture Aspiria Recruit, which launched in November 2017.
I’m not sure whether it was the thought of my wife not earning a salary for the next year, or whether it was the extra mouth to feed, that made me believe it was a great time to give up a steady income for the risk of starting up a business from scratch!!
I was entering an already saturated and competitive recruitment market here in Exeter! I am delighted to say that 5 months into business (with continuous levels of hard work) things are developing well.
What has worked well?
I purposely choose to work with less candidates than your average recruitment agency might, so that I can dedicate more time to supporting each person and adding value. I hear too often that candidates feel like they’ve invested valuable time in registering with recruitment agencies, only to never to be contacted again.
I don’t want that for Aspiria Recruit and will give honest advice to those I can’t help, while working closely with candidates that I genuinely believe I can help find a job. It sounds odd to even say that!
I am proud to live and work in such a dynamic, vibrant city and I love working within a business community that focuses on quality over quantity.
