The Devon Branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England is commissioning evidence-based research to question the number of new homes that need to be built on greenfield sites to meet the county’s housing needs. At a meeting in Exeter this Friday (January 19th), CPRE Devon will announce the appointment of independent consultants to carry out a proper analysis of the figures used to justify the building of tens of thousands of new homes across Devon over the next ten years. Choir sings out to support ‘Farms for City Children’

A charity which gives urban children a better understanding of the countryside is to benefit from Exeter Philharmonic Choir’s two carol concerts next week. The retiring collection from ‘Carols in the Cathedral’ will go to Farms for City Children, which was founded in Devon over forty years ago by children’s author Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare. The charity’s first farm was in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside at Nethercott House, just outside the village of Iddesleigh. New Buildings at Exeter Science Park Will Bring Hundreds of Jobs to the Area

Exeter Science Park has marked the start of its next phase of growth with a turf-cutting ceremony at the site of two new ‘grow-on buildings’ which will bring hundreds of jobs to the area. Built by Kier Construction, the buildings will provide 27,000 square feet of space. They are the first new speculative offices to be built in Exeter since 2008 and it is estimated that, upon completion, they will bring over 200 new jobs to the site.
